    初夏,承载着春的希望,酝酿着秋的殷实如约而至。就在这个初夏,梁平枫叶国际学校英语中心老师们来到重庆枫叶国际学校,与重庆校区所有的英语老师一起接受教学业务的培训。

On May 10th , ESL teachers went to Maple Leaf International School---Chongqing Campus for further professional training.

    早上八点,来自加拿大有着几十年教龄的Jennifer给我们介绍了Reading Power课程。这个课程主要是解决学生如何在阅读中进行思考。Jennifer结合自己多年来的从教经验从联想、提问、推断、转换和视觉化五个方面将抽象概念具象化,展示了阅读中的“思考”。目前英语阅读教学更多关注文字表面信息,尤其是单词、短语或是语法,而忽略了在真正的阅读中,学生应该学会的是在阅读过程中如何独立思考。

At 8:00 in the morning, Jennifer, experienced teacher and teacher trainer from Canada, gave a presentation on Reading Power. With her own teaching experience, Jennifer made thinking process seen in her presentation. Teachers focused more on words, phrases, grammar or literal meaning of the text instead of student thinking while reading a book in reading lessons now.

    短暂休息后,Jennifer将理论转化为实际教学,为我们亲自演示了一节优秀的英语阅读教学课例。本节课内容为一本简短的绘本故事《Courage》。教学目标是学生能够通过阅读此绘本学会在阅读过程中联想。Jennifer像变魔术一样将听说读写四个方面结合起来有效地完成了本堂课的教学目标,短短的四十分钟的课程,达到了课堂效率的最优化。这才是真正的英语阅读课的设计。

After a short break, the training continued. Jennifer transformed the theory into practical teaching. She demonstrated an excellent English reading class. She introduced the first power of reading power - Connect.

She read the book Courage to students to let them make connection. The students shared their connection with the whole class. Surprisingly, speaking, listening, reading and writing skills are integrated in her lesson while she focused more on thinking.

    下午,集团英语教学中心副总监Jessica针对枫叶英语分级课程标准进行了培训。她对标准制定的原则、如何使用标准进行日常备课等问题进行了细致的讲解。

Jessica, Vice-director of ESL Teaching Center of the head office, gave a presentation on Maple Leaf ESL Curriculum Standard in the afternoon.  She introduced the rationale and principles of the standard and how can teachers use the standard to design their lessons.

    此次培训时间虽短,可老师们却受益颇多。学习之路还很漫长,还需我们不断摸索前进。

Although the training time is short, teachers benefit a lot. The road to learning is long. We still need to continue to explore more.
